Zamboanga City Government Constructs Crematorium and Columbarium

Zamboanga City Local Government is undertaking 39.8 million peso projects at the city owned and operated cemetery in Mampang Village, Zamboanga City.

These include the construction of the 29.9 million pula crematorium and the 9.9 million pula columbarium.

Crematorium is the place of cremation of the dead while columbarium is intended to provide an ideal sanctuary or peaceful resting place for the deceased.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the city’s columbarium will house 1,320 booths or niches with a capacity of three urns per booth.

Salazar inspected both projects on Thursday, June 9 to see the progress of the work.

She had previously ordered relevant agencies to speed up the implementation of projects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
