Seminoles to keep national open water team’s Fort Cadence in shape for 2023

NEW COMMITMENT: Florida State University has secured a major verbal in-state commitment for the 2023-24 season from the US Open Water National Team Fort Cadence of Estero, Florida.

Regarding his commitment:

“So thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Florida State University. Beyond lucky to have this opportunity to represent garnet and gold!! GO NOLES!!!!”

Fort trains year-round with the Gulf Coast Swim Team and is a member of the US Open Water National Team. She earned a spot on the national team after finishing sixth in the 10k at the 2021 National Open Water Championships.

In the pool, she finished second in the 1,000 freestyle and mile at the Florida Spring Senior Championships and placed 25th in the mile at Juniors East this past season in short course.

His best times include:

  • 1650 free – 16:53.47
  • 1000 free – 9:56.89
  • 500 free – 4:54.77
  • 200 free – 1:52.83

Currently a junior at Estero High School, Fort won the 500 freestyle at the 2A Florida State Championships as a freshman. She finished second in the 500 free in 2021 while also taking fifth place in the 200 free, a year after taking third and sixth place respectively in her sophomore season.
