Georgia Tech is looking to snap its ACC series losing streak to Florida State at home this weekend. The Yellow Jackets fell out of the standings after losing two of three to fourth-ranked Virginia, and Florida State enters this series ranked 20th in the nation.
The Yellow Jackets had a brilliant night offensively in Tuesday’s game against USC Upstate. Although not the strongest opponent, when you score 27 points on offense it shows you had a great night. Chandler Simpson returned to the lineup on Tuesday and had his own RBI single, while wide receiver Kevin Parada continued to play as one of the best players in the country.
Georgia Tech’s hitting and offense haven’t been the problem, it’s the inconsistent pitching and fielding errors. If they can fix those two issues, this team has a winning streak in it and is capable of getting back near the top of the ACC standings.
Florida State entered this series without playing its best baseball either. They dropped the final game of their series against Duke, lost a game to rival Florida, and then were swept by Notre Dame. Both teams need a win and a solid streak, so it will be interesting to see how the weekend unfolds.
Game 1 of the series is scheduled to begin Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Atlanta. The game can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
