Game 1 against NC State delayed to sixth inning

RALEIGH, North Carolina. –No. 3 Florida State (46-5) vs. NC State (33-19) Friday night’s game was delayed in the sixth inning due to weather. The game resumes at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by Game 2 of the series. Florida State took a 3-0 lead in weather delay.

Florida State struck first for 37and times this season with a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Kalei Harding started things off with a center field single and that was backed up by a five-length walk from Mack Leonard. Devyn Flaherty then picked mid on the second pitch she saw to score Leonard. It was the leading team of Flaherty 57and highlight of the season.

Kaley Mudge gave the Noles a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning with a two-run homer, her third of the season. Chloe Culp came in and hit for Josie Muffley and picked the middle before Muffley reentered the game. After committing three straight pitches, Mudge hit an absolute bomb on the scoreboard into right field to extend Seminole’s lead.

Emma Wilson got her ninth start of the season and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing just one hit and no runs. Danielle Watson came on as relief for the Noles and pitched 3.2 innings before the timeout, allowing two hits and no runs with five strikeouts.


Game 1 of the series against NC State resumes in the top of the sixth inning at 1 p.m. Saturday. Game 2 of the series will follow the conclusion of today’s game.
