Florida State is “one of the best schools” for 2023 WR Hykeem Williams

There are busy weekends, and then there’s what 2023 wide receiver Hykeem Williams went through a few days ago. Williams made an unofficial visit to Florida on Friday, traveled to Lakeland on Saturday to lead his high school basketball team to a state championship, and took a trip Sunday morning to check on Florida State. Williams liked the atmosphere in Tallahassee.

“Man, I just like moving around here,” Williams said. “Good vibes all around this place, from the head coach, to the staff, to the recruitment staff, to the players, always good vibes.”

Upon arrival, Williams, her family and her coaches were personally greeted by head coach Mike Norvell. As he entered the Moore, the entire staff was waiting for him and gave a huge cheer. The timing was something that stuck with Williams.

“It’s been a great experience,” Williams said. “I’m not going to lie, I didn’t expect that. It definitely made me feel comfortable here. It shocked me, because the last time they were outside and didn’t do as many noise.”

Although he only stayed on campus for about six hours, Williams was able to experience a ton of what the state of Florida had to offer. He took pictures in basketball and football uniforms.

“I did a basketball and football photoshoot,” Williams said. “I toured the campus, got to talk to Coach Norvell upstairs. I went to college town and they have this place where I walked in and had to shove the spear into the ground . A great video came up, he was live.”

During the visit, the Florida native spent a lot of time with wide receivers coach Ron Dugans. The two talk almost every day and have a connection outside of football.

“Coach Dugans, I talk to him all the time,” Williams said. “It’s always a good vibe man, I stuck with him the whole time. It was a good time.”

“We talk almost every day,” Williams continued. “Not just about football but about life, so it’s a good relationship.”

The visit to Florida State also gave Williams the opportunity to reconnect with high school teammate and true freshman linebacker Omar Graham Jr. Williams and Graham Jr. spoke outside the Moore and took a few photos for a short time. It helps that Williams has someone with the Seminoles he can trust outside of the coaches.

“Man, I miss Omar,” Williams said. “He’s a dog, he’s the only teammate I can honestly say he’s the best teammate I’ve ever played with.”

Before leaving, the Stranahan High School star had a meeting with head coach Mike Norvell in his office. The conversation spilled over to topics outside of football.

“It’s a deep conversation, it’s on a whole new level,” Williams said. “It’s not just football stuff. It’s a lot.”

Williams posted a top eight in February that included Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Rutgers, Texas A&M and USC. Speaking to the media after his visit to Tallahassee, Williams said the Seminoles were one of his best schools.

“They are definitely one of the best schools in my recruiting,” Williams said. “One of the best schools.”

The Long Broad has a ton of hits on record. He will visit Pittsburgh on March 18, Georgia on March 25, Alabama on April 2 and Texas A&M on April 9. If possible, he’ll be back at Florida State for the spring game, but he’ll definitely be back this summer. . Williams plans to commit in December.
