The 2022 recruiting class for Florida State has improved dramatically as Mike Norvell and Alex Atkins were able to land offensive lineman Julian Armella.
There had been some concern earlier today when it was reported that Armella would be pushing back on her decision. Either way, he decided later that day to sign on Wednesday night.
Florida State has done a tremendous job of addressing the future of its offensive line. Throughout the 2022 cycle, Ft. Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas offensive lineman Julian Armella has been a prime target due to his versatility and straightforward villainy on the pitch. Considered the 5th best indoor lineman in the country, Armella can play guard or tackle in college.
Alex Atkins has built a reputation as one of the top offensive scouts in the country this year and Julian’s landing adds to that. With almost 40 offers, Julian was recruited by just about every major program in the country. Things took a positive turn for FSU when he visited Camp Midnight Madness after COVID restrictions were lifted over the summer.
During this visit, Mike Norvell and his team had their first real opportunity to speak to Armella in person and show them how he fits their offensive philosophy. After an unofficial visit for the season opener against Notre Dame, FSU began to feel they had caught up in recruiting Armella.
After coaching changes at LSU, Florida and a few other programs, Armella made her last official visit on December 10 to FSU.
Today’s signing of Julian is a big win as it fills a need while showing the FSU is back in recruiting against the best programs in the country. Armella chose FSU over LSU, Alabama, Florida, Miami and many more. Part of building a winning program is getting top players to come along the trenches. It was done in this class and it ended with a huge bang as Armella is now a Seminole.
